How Permeable Pavers Work
Unlike standard concrete and asphalt surfaces that keep water above ground, permeable materials or interlocking pavers absorb water, letting it pass down into various layers of specifically constructed gravel and soil. The small gaps in-between pavers are filled with gravel. This prevents the pavers from shifting, and allowing water to naturally filter back into the eco-system.

Soil erosion caused by water runoff can deplete soil fertility, by washing away topsoil and removing minerals needed to maintain healthy plant life. In extreme circumstances, it can even undermine roads, sidewalks, and other impermeable surfaces. This can lead to costly foundation and structural damages to both homeowners and businesses. Some paving solutions are designed to specifically keep soil in place. Since interlocking permeable pavers filter water naturally, these solutions can help preserve healthy nutrients in the soil.

Paver textures help create a non-slip surface on patios, porches, walkways, and pool decking. When professionally installed, pavers have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance than standard concrete surfaces. Although pavers are not as subject to structural cracking as their asphalt and cement counterparts, replacement is easy when needed. Replacing single pavers, versus having to repave entire slabs will save both time and money. If sealed correctly, paving stones can also be stain-resistant from oil leaks, spills, or rubber. They are even durable enough to withstand vehicle weight, making them an ideal material for parking lots and driveways.
